The long expected night was coming finally. During the afternoon we strolled along the “malecon” (sea front downtown) and enjoyed a warm Christmas afternoon in La Paz, before the kids enjoyed their yearly ritual to wait for Santa – watching the movie “Polar Express”.
Kids were as always really excited and Susi had done a great job decorating the house and the tree. We did not use a cactus as some of you might have expected, and like every year we used real candles for this evening on the tree. Kids stepped down the stairs, looked at the tree and then as every year – stormed right out to the patio, looked into to the sky and shouting a “thanks Santa”.
Bert was happy with Legos (Ninja go), Alex with a remote control helicopter and Luka with Playmobil. Books, calenders, clothes … the kids must have behaved good during the last 12 month. A special thanks as well to my friends from Pauli, Gladbach and Duesseldorf, the kids loved their soccer shirts (that made it all on time to La Paz) and used them all evening and the entire next day! (thanks Peter, Ralf and Lutz).
After our official family celebration Susi’s family came over and we had a second round of presents for the kids. As well our neighbors Dona Magdalena and Don Sergio joined us for this event. Unfortunately Tavo had to stay at home, but Karla and Zoe joined us for two hours.
The feast was a great mix between “potato salad&sausages”, “bacalao&rice” and “turkey&mashed potatoes”.
We finished the evening with the traditional Christmas pinata for the kids in the patio and I think Oli was the first to hit the bed together with Bert and Luka.
… and special thanks to Santa’s helpers (hm, called Susi and Nico) who stayed up for another hour and left the house in great conditions for the next morning!
